Number 2. I was gonna hold onto this for a week, but I couldn’t. I’m just so…proud.

Remember, buying shit doesn’t make you happier. Do something to make your life better. Don’t buy something; it won’t fill that hole in you.

It’s…Pillow Pals! I’ve had this concept in my back pocket for a couple months, and I was initially gonna do it as a one-pager. Yesterday, though, I got wild, insatiable urge to make a comic (it’s almost a sickness) and decided to make a comic out of that idea.

I may integrate them into a bigger world that I’ve been planning for a while, but we’ll see.

FRIDAY (Thursday?) FANART NUMBER 12! IT’S PIKACHU!From “H.P. Lovecraft’s Pokæ-Beasts of the Orient: A Codex of Nature Gone Awry in the East”. I figured a rat that ran electricity through its body would look a little more like a meth-addicted burn victim than a cute lump of yellow, but that’s just me.
This one went up a whole day early due to a trek out to Portland starting early tomorrow AM. I figured it was easier to post a day early than to deal with putting this up all over the Internets on bad airport/plane Wifi.

Another trip to the archives! 2011’s X-mas short story, “The Beast from the Stars.”

FRIDAY FANART NUMBER 11! IT’S SQUIRTLE!From “H.P. Lovecraft’s Pokæ-Beasts of the Orient: A Codex of Nature Gone Awry in the East”. All the starters are done’d! I’m probably gonna double-up on their evolved forms, though.  I had a lot of fun making this one…although I think I could have made him weirder, I think. Mostly, though, I was trying to make him look pathetic, like a stillborn from the Island of Doctor Moreau jammed into some sort of carapace.
I’ve got a couple ideas for the next one, but I’m curious: which Pokemon do YOUS GUYS think I should reimagine next? (Try to keep it to the original 151, plz).

DIRE EARTH: Do Something!…and this rounds out the six shadowboxes I conceived during SPACE last year. Given that completing these six alone were my goal after the positive response I got from the first two-page shadowbox, I’d say I’ve done pretty well (seeing as I’ve also done a 6-page/8-panel story, three 1-page stories, started a spin-off series to flesh out that world, and plans for at least six more one-page shadowbox stories).

FRIDAY FANART NUMBER 10! ON A SATURDAY! IT’S CHARMANDER!From “H.P. Lovecraft’s Pokæ-Beasts of the Orient: A Codex of Nature Gone Awry in the East”. I’m still debating how many of the Pokemon I’ll have done before I start printing them. I’ve got solid concepts for the three ghosts and for Koffing/Wheezing and Pikachu, but everything else is still a mystery to me.
